In Plant Training

Trinidad and Tobago's Hospitality and Tourism Institute’s (TTHTI's) In-Plant training was introduced as an effective business training tool fulfilling the internal training needs of the hospitality and tourism industry. The unique feature of this programme is its flexibility and convenience, meeting the specific requirements of each client.

The content and duration of each training session is customized individually in order to meet the client’s needs and training can be done at the client’s property or another suitable venue.

Training is not only limited to the culinary arts as TTHTI has delivered programmes related to Food & Beverage Service, Quality Customer Service, Tourism Awareness, Tour Guiding, Supervisory Skills and Housekeeping.

Our clients range from hotels and other members of the hospitality and tourism industry to private sector enterprises and Government ministries.

Diploma in Culinary Arts

This programme is offered full-time (weekdays) and part-time (evenings and weekends). Programme completion takes one (1) year (full-time or part-time).

Career Opportunities

Students pursuing this Diploma will develop the skills to function in kitchen facilities at hotel or resort properties as well as stand-alone restaurants. Acquiring a Diploma in Culinary Arts is one of the best ways to enter the hospitality industry and gain the necessary experience to commence a career as a Professional Chef. Upon successful completion of this programme, students will also achieve Certified Kitchen Cook credentials from the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) – USA.

At the end of the programme graduates can build careers in Culinary Arts.

Diploma in Baking & Pastry Arts

This programme is offered full-time (weekdays) and part-time (evenings and weekends). Programme completion takes one (1) year (full-time) and one and a half (1.5) years (part-time).

Career Opportunities

Students pursuing the Diploma in Baking and Pastry Arts will develop proficiency in essential skills that are critical for executing techniques in the art of baking, while learning about dough and cake preparation and pastry production. Students will study the fundamentals under the guidance of professional pastry chefs along with supporting academic courses, thereby creating a solid foundation in the pursuit of a career or business as a Pastry Chef.

Students successfully completing the Diploma can then do the Food and Beverage Management programme. At the end of this programme students may find work at supervisory level in hotels, restaurants and bars.

This programme is offered full-time (weekdays) and part-time (evenings and weekends). Programme completion takes two (2) years (full-time) and two and a half (2.5) years (part-time).

Career Opportunities

Students pursuing this degree will develop comprehensive skills and leadership qualities to operate successfully in kitchen facilities at hotel or resort properties as well as stand-alone restaurants. The programme allows for an in-depth focus on the study of food composition and preparation, as well as a working knowledge of nutrient preservation, food technology and food costing. Students will also pursue management courses to further develop their knowledge and skills in order to effectively manage a kitchen environment. Upon successful completion of this programme, students will also achieve Certified Kitchen Cook credentials from the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) – USA.

Students completing this programme will be able to operate with confidence in front-line positions within hotel or resort environments and can also transition seamlessly into more advanced academic programmes. Upon successful completion of this programme, students will also achieve either Certified Front Desk Representative or Certified Guest Room Attendant credentials from the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) – USA.

This programme is offered full-time (weekdays) and part-time (evenings and weekends). Programme completion takes one (1) year (full-time or part-time).

This program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to function in a wide variety of operational areas within the hospitality industry including: Food and Beverage, Rooms Division, Sales and Marketing, and general supervision. Students completing this programme will be able to operate with confidence in front-line positions within hospitality operations and can also transition seamlessly into more advanced academic programmes. Upon successful completion of this programme, students will also achieve Certified Restaurant Server, or Certified Front Desk Representative, or Certified Guest Room Attendant credentials from the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) – USA.

This programme is offered full-time (weekdays) and part-time (evenings and weekends). Programme completion takes nine (9) months (fulltime) and one (1) year (part-time).
